Paula has closely examined the subject of Junk Mail by collecting a two-week sample of postal junk mail, weighing it and studying its carbon footprint. She didn’t stop there, she researched and analysed the resources needed to produce this quantity of paper while linking it to deforestation. She also contacted local Maltese authorities to take action for the benefit of our environment.

When we make the roads smooth with tarmac or concrete we often forget that the rain can create a problem when too much water comes down and has nowhere to go. Nature always finds ways of conserving water in every nook and cranny. We should be inspired and think about creating water reservoirs for every smooth surface we create, including roads and buildings.

All actors in the food chain have a role to play in preventing and reducing food waste, from those who produce and process foods to those who make foods available for consumption and ultimately consumers themselves. In this article the focus is on the hospitality sector, mainly hoteliers, whereby an insight into some of the local hoteliers will be provided in order to determine their perceptions and actions on food waste.
