What is Energy? Energy is the ability to work. Energy comes from different forms: – heat energy, light energy, motion energy, electrical energy, chemical energy and nuclear energy. Energy is in everything. We use energy for everything we do, when turning on the heater, when we cook and playing with the computer, when watching television, when heating water, when switching on the light. In other words energy provides lighting and in our homes, schools, offices, streets, in other words everywhere.

The use of fossil fuels for our energy is one of the ways in which we pollute the world. The exhaust floats off to the atmosphere creating greenhouse gases which thicken the atmosphere and trap heat around us causing global warning. The operation of the gas station or power station is really poisonous for the air around us and these will affect trees and animals that live there.

Enjoying the sun under the umbrella, during my summer holidays, reading a book and sipping cold lemonade is a relaxing moment for me. That is – until I smell smoke of something being burnt nearby. Being absorbed in the story, at first I ignore it however, soon enough I can hear the fire engines alarm approaching our street. This is a frequent ritual that happens in our street mostly during summer.
