Cloth bags to reduce single plastic use

At our school we are constantly trying to promote the 3 Rs – Reduce, Reuse, Recyle. This scholastic year we are working towards eliminating single use plastic within our school community. For this purpose we have held a poster/logo competition where the children of the school used their creativity to design posters to create this awareness. Then 5 of these posters/logos were chosen and were printed on cloth bags. The cloth bags with the children’s original designs were going to be sold during parents day and merit week (which are not postponed) These cloth bags will be sold to parents/guardians/educators/children to promote reusing.

Littered cigarette butts account for one in every 3 items collected during a beach clean-up at Ħondoq Bay in Gozo, making it the largest form of litter. Become environmentally conscious, no one wants to see your dirty butts!!

One of the most common uses of plastic in our world today is disposable straws. Although plastic straws can be recycled, their small size makes them easily missed in the recycling process. If the disposable straw is not recycled properly, it can find its way back into our environment where it poses many threats. There is a simple switch we can all make, reusable straws. Reusable straws can help reduce the amount of plastic we leave behind, making our world a better place.

During a clean-up event, students found a chocolate bar wrapper that was 5 years old, which meant it had been thrown some 260 weeks ago. Disturbingly, the wrapper looked no more than a few days old. Packaging wrappers could potentially last hundreds, thousands or even millions of years without decomposing.
