Milied li Jimla l-Qlub marks an annual date with unity, generosity and altruism as the students and teaching staff at St. Francis School, Sliema, work together towards a common goal: raising money for those in need. For us at St Francis School, Milied li Jimla l-Qlub is, in effect, a concrete way of experiencing the real meaning of Christmas as we work together and help each other understand that helping others warms up the hearts of those who put aside all differences and believe in the meaning of Christian charity and love, donating not only money but also, even more importantly, our time. This year, the money we raised, was donated to help people suffering from domestic violence.

‘Litter Less’ in Maria Regina College Secondary School. Using waste creatively to make a student friendly garden

The EkoSkola group of Maria Regina College Mosta regenerated the out-of-bounds school garden which is now being opened regularly during breaks, lessons and various activities. The garden was given a facelift, new hedges planted and lots of seating areas, decorations, bird feeding stations, cat shelters etc were created using recycled material. The scope was that of making the garden more welcoming, but also to create awareness about the importance of Reusing waste since there is a huge problem of litter generation and disposal in the Maltese Islands.

World Mental Health Awareness Day is celebrated every year on the 10th October and St. Margaret College Verdala School Queen’s Young Leaders Group assembled with their group founder and teacher, Martin Azzopardi sdc, to raise awareness of what can be done to ensure youths’ mental well-being.

Every year Missio Malta raises a charity fund campaign in aid of a particular mission project in a poor country round the world. This year the charity fund campaign is in aid of Catholic clinics in Uganda so they can be able to buy ambulances to save as many patients as possible especially to treat pregnant women on time. A group of fifth formers at St. Margaret College Senior Secondary School were invited by their teacher Martin Azzopardi sdc to research poverty in Uganda while proposing practical solutions to Missio Malta in aid of this country.
