During these last two years, animal cruelty has declined (Buhagiar, 2017) but it is still a serious problem. In this project we are going to discuss animal cruelty and how we can make the situation better. We chose this subject because we are all animal lovers and we want to raise awareness about how animals are treated. We have also chosen this topic because, though animal cruelty has declined, we feel that it is not a hundred percent true since many animals are still abandoned on the streets and are not being taken care of, and this is, in fact, the main focus of our research.

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. However, unfortunately, the hectic life we are living nowadays makes it difficult for many people to have breakfast, especially a healthy breakfast. This is especially the case for students who, as early as six in the morning, are already on their way to school. As an EkoSkola committee whose project is Towards a Healthier Lifestyle we are, therefore, trying to provide a healthy breakfast for our students.

Therefore, we have chosen to focus our research on obesity. Our research is based on 100 questionnaires distributed to a representative sample of the population, as well as an interview with a professional chef.

As form 3 students in a church school, we are already observing some form of imbalance as regards family values and basic care of children. According to Cutajar (2017) as reported in the Times of Malta, ‘850 to 900 cases of child neglect [are] investigated by the authorities every year’. This shameful figure encouraged us to choose this topic for our project as we consider this a shocking number for such a small island. The outcome of our research is meant to increase awareness about this issue among Maltese people.
