Our aim is to encourage families in our school community (and as many people as possible) to start using the No Junk Mail stickers. This should result in the elimination of hundreds of kilos of paper waste, eventually encouraging producers of such magazines and leaflets to find ways that are more sustainable and environmental friendly to reach potential costumers.

To help promote awareness re reducing plastic waste in the ocean we shall be inventing an interactive story book about reducing litter with the help of a sponge fish with different items on it and turn it into an interactive storybook.. Cora is on her way to a party with her fish mates…. But what happens to Cora until she gets to the party? And how come Cora turns into a dirty, sad and tired fish until she reaches her mates’ reef?! Cora’s unlucky adventure is a story of a fish on her way to her mates’ reef to celebrate her birthday together…but on the way Cora has to swim through the litter that people ended up throwing in the ocean… a once so happy Cora arrives at her mates’ reef so sad and dirty. During this story, children will take turns to throw different items which they are asked to bring from home into the water where Cora the sponge fish lies…. At the end of the story the children will observe the changes in the sponge fish. At every stage pictures will be taken to turn this adventure into a book. This book will be turned into an Ebook and sent as a link to children at home to read this story and share Cora’s unlucky adventure. This Ebook activity will be done by one class bubble this year however the ebook will be shared with the rest of the school so that we can create further awareness.

Street litter includes all the waste materials that are thrown away irresponsibly, especially those thrown away in the streets. The smallest things, from cigarette butts up to the largest ones like bulky waste materials, form part of such litter. Litter in the streets is continuously increasing due to irresponsible people. This problem is not only found in Malta, but all over the world. In fact, according to a British website called Kingdom 60% of the people in Britain drop litter and only 28% of them admit it.

Covid-19 hit the whole world like a bomb. No one anticipated that such a microscopic virus could tarvel all over the world. In a few months nearly every country started going into lockdowns , schools were forced to close down and most people started working from home or were at the edge of losing their job due to the poor economy. At 12:30pm every Maltese citizen would be distraughtfully waiting to hear what Professor Charmaine Gauci had to announce. Cases kept increasing and so did the restrictions until Malta went into a partial lockdown and people only went out to work or to buy groceries or medicine. The streets were silent from the noise and air pollution.
