This photo depicts one of nature’s sweetest moments: a mother turtle leading her hatchlings into the beautiful ocean. But if one looks closer, one will see that there are some problems in these photos. Mother turtles do not actually lead their young into the sea – the mother turtle symbolises adults leading their children towards a sea of pollution. These are also not real turtles, they are made of plastic! The plastic turtle represents all the plastic that ends up into the sea. Unfortunately, in Malta many beaches have one thing in common, not the sea, sand or rocks but the amount of plastic or other rubbish that you can spot.
