Carob trees are healthy because it is low in sugar. The seeds are used because it contains a type of gum. It is used as a natural additive with many food products.

The sorry state of some beautiful old houses in Sliema is brought into perspective in this photo. Most houses are not lived in and they serve as rubbish dumps attracting rodents, insects while being an eyesore to the community.
