The area between Bulebel industrial area and the bypass road direction to Zejtun town is turning into a waste dumping zone. Heavy dump waste including broken glass, plastic, fragments of broken furniture and paper waste plus all sorts of other waste is all the time accumulating. Recently, even a porcelain toilet base ended up in this area adding to the heavy waste thrown in the street while creating public inconvenience. Apart from being illegal, dumping waste is an eyesore to the countryside. Moreover, the chemicals and non-biodegradable materials thrown in this area are affecting the physical environment and the waterways by contaminating both the soil and the groundwater. The illegal dumping of waste in this area has become a huge environmental issue. To clean up and regularly monitor the area, Zejtun Local Council and the Malta Industrial Parks were contacted and an immediate clean up action was taken.
