Earthworms live in the soil and help it stay healthy. They break down dead plants and food waste and turn it into rich soil for new plants to grow. Their waste is a natural fertilizer. We can help earthworms by composting food scraps, not using chemicals in gardens, and protecting natural soil. This picture shows how even a small worm is important.
