In this picture, I am showing the effect of the many buildings in Malta. It is so a sad thing that instead of countryside and fields, we are building a lot of tall and high buildings. We have a very small country, so instead of buildings let’ s do something good!!

The rubbish is very exagerated in Malta. The rubbish is mostly found in the countryside. In fact this picture is taken near a factory. The factory is found in the countryside. We need to learn to seperate our waste because we are running out of space to throw our waste.

Nature is not a scrap yard!

The message is that if we throw away our rubbish and dangerous substances in the countryside, we are harming nature and ruining the soil. The car in the picture was left there many years ago and because of this trees and flowers are not growing.

In Birkirkara among the houses it stood practically one of the few fields in this town, with carob trees. 2017 was the dead sentence to these trees as MEPA approved the permission to this field to be built. These trees were massacred by the machinery to let place for flats and penthouses. The carob tree is noted for living for hundreds of years, surely lived through these years among those people, the day permission was granted, the Carob tree cried for the last time.

For sure this this house, is not camoflage with the surroundings. Walking from Delimara in the beautiful countryside, your attention is drawn on this house with such contrasting colours. The owners are in love with pink but do this colour respect the surroundings? Where is MEPA in such cases for regulation about such colours in the countryside?

During a visit to Xrobb l-Ghagin Nature Park, I have come across small solar panels in the car park. I have discovered that these are lights which work through solar energy. As a young reporter for the environment, I suggest more use of solar energy which is an abundant natural resource in Malta. For example, installing solar lights in streets and public buildings including schools. Eventually, this will have a positive impact on the environment by using cleaner energy sources.

During a walk in the countryside, I have come across this trash dumped irresponsibly in a field. This litter included plastic and construction material. Plastic waste should have been placed in recycling bins which unfortunately are almost non-existent in certain areas of our countryside. On the other hand, construction material should have been placed in unused quarries.
