Yet, in many cities around the world, including Malta, air pollution has made this an everyday reality. Malta’s countryside is often taken for granted, yet this panoramic view shows just how striking it can be. A walk on this quiet road surrounded by green fields, open skies, and undisturbed land on one side can help relax us and make us feel better. We need to protect what’s left of our countryside at all cost before it disappears to development.

Snailing

It’s very easy to miss a small snail making its way across a prickly pear pad. Snails are a common sight in Malta’s countryside, but they play a surprisingly important role in the ecosystem, breaking down organic matter and forming part of the food chain. This photograph is a gentle nudge to slow down and notice the small life thriving all around us.
